The Maker Collective began when we lived in Fort Mill, SC. Brian was a part of a songwriters group that was really thriving and I loved the fruit I saw in him. I wanted the same dynamic, to be able to share my creativity with a group of makers. So I started The Maker Collective. It was just a little group of 5 creative mamas. Some of us hobbyists and some business owners. Melissa had a children's clothing business made in the US, Lora had beautiful prophetic jewelry business, Angie sewed and loved photography, Maggie made the most anointed cupcakes, you could feel God in every bite (not an exaggeration, the best GF cupcakes ever) and I was in between sewing, knitting and clay projects doing my "jack of all trades, master of none" thing lol. We would meet once a month to share our recent makes, encourage and pray for each other in any way we could. It was such a special time.
When Brian's Smallest Seed album was released we wanted to create a place where we could share his music and facilitate encounter the Holy Spirit. We set out to prepare the environment for rest and the Holy Spirit to minister to their hearts. Many of those who attended the first event were in full time ministry, others ministering part time. They all had one thing in common, they needed rest! We joined forces and created the Rest. We held our first one in Charlotte, NC. The Makers were all in with this and it was such a joy to work together! He collaborated with friends from his songwriting group and the Maker Collective got on board to help! Brian built tables from cable spools, and crafted a mosaic cross for encounter during communion. The Makers and I sewed pillows, made clay name tags and journals for every guest to feel at home. My best friend made the best soup in town. Brian's music opened up our hearts to hear from the Father. It was such a beautiful night. We had a special time of prayer ministry available, many were touched in a personal way. I am so thankful for what we all experienced together. We have also held the Rest Fort Mill, and the Rest Ohio with our precious friends. Each was a unique expression of the Father's presence and his heart for his children. I pray it blesses you and inspires you to pour yourself out for the Glory of God. This is the short promo we created of the event.
